The left-back has joined the Black Cats on a long-term contract from Toulouse, and becomes Sunderland’s second signing of the summer transfer window.
A France under-21 international, Sunderland have been off competition from around Europe, including the Premier League, for the services of the 20-year-old full-back.
Standing at 6ft 2in, Methalie – who is widely regarded as one of the hottest prospects in French football, having already made four appearances, scoring two goals, for his countries’ Under-21 side – combines physical strength with technical quality and an ability to contribute in both boxes.
