Sunderland have agreed a £25.7m (€30.1million) deal with Toulouse that will see them pay an initial fee of £24m for the 20-year-old, with a further £1.7m of add-ons also included as part of the agreement, according to Sky Sports.
Methalie is in the North East to complete the move, which will see him become Sunderland’s second signing in the summer transfer window after fellow full-back Thomas Meunier.
Methalie's arrival marks a successful closure to a lengthy pursuit that has gone on for a number of weeks, with Toulouse having turned down a number of offers from Sunderland for France Under-21 international Methalie.
