Régis Le Bris’ side began the season with a 2-1 defeat at Ipswich Town before responding with a 1-0 victory over Fulham at the Stadium of Light.
Sunderland then secured a deserved point away at Brentford last weekend, with the Black Cats producing another disciplined display against a side that finished ninth in the Premier League last season.
They followed that result by defeating Hull City 1-0 in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
Arsenal will provide a significant test, however, with Mikel Arteta’s side arriving on Wearside with a perfect record from their opening three Premier League matches.
