On another day, Sunderland could easily have come away with at least a point having more than matched the champions for large parts of the game.
Of course, the game turned on more than one minute, between David Raya’s penalty save to Arsenal taking the lead.
Sunderland created enough opportunities to score at least a couple of goals. Here’s five things we learned from the game:
