Sunderland completely dominated the first half, created enough chances to have been ahead, hit the post, had an early Dan Ballard goal disallowed, survived Brentford’s second-half response and showed the resilience to find a way back into the game. Here are five things we learned from a sunny afternoon in west London.
1. Wilson Isidor changed the game
Sunderland needed something different in the final stages, and for the second game running, Wilson Isidor provided it.
His introduction gave Sunderland more energy and a different threat in the final third, with the striker willing to run at Brentford and attack spaces that had started to open up.
