However, it has been a disaster so far for Sunderland, with Brian Brobbey and Dan Ballard both forced off with apparent hamstring injuries while on international duty with the Netherlands and Northern Ireland respectively.
Brobbey was forced to leave the field after just 35 minutes of the Netherlands’ 1-1 draw with Germany on Thursday night, while Ballard suffered his injury in the closing stages of Northern Ireland’s victory over Georgia 24 hours later.
