Le Bris was leading Sunderland against Manchester City in the Premier League, having recently guided the club back into Europe.
It was difficult to imagine a more fitting way of illustrating just how dramatically Sunderland's fortunes had changed since the Frenchman arrived in June 2024.
His 100th game ultimately ended in a spectacular 5-3 defeat, with Brian Brobbey scoring a hat-trick for Sunderland.
Manchester City eventually prevailed through goals from Enzo Fernández, Rayan Cherki, Antoine Semenyo and Erling Haaland, but the scoreline did little to reflect how competitive Sunderland had been.
